Past Event: Combined New Climber/Family Night:
This May, we’re doing another special climb night, welcoming both new climbers and families to come an hour early to climb with other families and new climbers!
May10th, 6pm at Vertical Endeavors Duluth in Canal Park
A few VertiGals will be around to help with kids, help you get oriented, belay, and answer any questions you may have. This is a great opportunity to meet other new climbers, other womxn with kids, and climb in a safe, welcoming space. We welcome climbers of all abilities whether you’re totally new, just getting back into climbing, introducing your kids to climbing, or whatever your situation is. This is your night! Kids of any gender are welcome during this, and all, VertiGals events.
Helpful hint: Some parents have mentioned that to help motivate kids to go higher or reach a goal, it can be helpful to bring a small stuffy (think beanie baby size), action figure, etc to perch on a hold up high, and have the child climb to “rescue” their toy. Feel free to try this with your kid!
Regular climb night will follow starting at 7pm, and all participants are welcome to stay and participate.
The only cost is a daypass to @veduluth which is $7 for women on Fridays, plus any rentals needed. Rental packages (harness, shoes, chalk) are $10 per person, or $4 per single item. Please be aware that all climbers must have a waiver on file VE to climb, which you can do online ahead of time or at the gym.
Past Event: New Climber Hour
We know climbing can be intimidating, and if you are new to climbing, it can be extra intimidating to join a group of many seasoned climbers. And, it is often be easier to learn if you’re doing it with others at your own level.
That’s why we’re hosting New Climbers Hour to encourage new climbers to get started, meet other new climbers, learn with others at a similar level, and have fun! We invite all new climbers to come climb with other new climbers.
When: 6pm – 7pm on Friday March 8th at Vertical Endeavors Duluth
Who: This event is intended for those who have never climbed before, have only climbed a little bit, are new to gym climbing, are getting back into climbing after a hiatus, considers themself a beginner, or are otherwise new to climbing. Moms/guardians are always welcome to bring kids!
- Arrive 15 minutes early to check in. You will need to sign a waiver which can be filled out ahead of time on VE’s website, and go through their introduction.
- We will meet upstairs at 6pm to do introductions and start climbing. Several belayers will be available to belay and give pointers.
- Regular VertiGals climb night will start at 7pm and all are welcome to join!
Cost: VE has half price off day passes for women on Friday nights (usually $14), so a day pass is $7. Rental packages (harness, shoes, chalk) are $10 per person, or $4 per single item.
Note: New climbers are always welcome at VertiGals climb nights, but this event is just for you!

Past Event: Family Climb Night
We know finding time to climb as a mom can be hard! We know climbing can be a great way to bond with your child and other moms! And, we know it’s always a good thing to expose kids to women being strong women.
That’s why we are hosted our first ever family night in February, 2019! We want to build a community where moms and caregivers feel welcome and empowered to pursue climbing, and where children feel comfortable to try climbing and can look up to strong women climbers. From 6-7pm February 8th we invited all moms/caregivers and their kids (of any gender) to come climb, meet other moms, kids, and other VertiGals. Extra VertiGals were on hand to help belay and hang out. Following family night, we had our regular VertiGals climb night starting at 7pm.
We hope to host another Family Climb Night soon. Sign up for our email list to be notified of our next event!
